Bollywood Movies to win Global Recognition

The pre conceived notion about the movies originating from India is that there would be a plethora of dance sequences along with a few action scenes with a paper thin plot. But off late, the Indian movies have been pushing the envelope in terms of movies with waterproof story lines. With the advent of the new age directors like Anurag Kashyap, Dibaker Banerjee and many more like them, Bollywood has been churning out insanely good movies. And not only the directors, with mainstream actors like Irrfan Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Akshay Kumar not shying away from experimenting, the quality of the movies coming out of Bollywood has largely improved. There are more female centric movies being directed which has led to the actresses not relying on just a few scenes in the entire movie to make their mark. Actresses at all stages of their careers like Radhika Apte, Anushka Sharma, KalkiKoechelin and ShabanaAazmi are starring in more women centric quality movies. And therefore, we have decided to list down 8 of these stupendous movies which were good enough to catch attention of the whole wide world and did not just limit their audience to Indians.

  1. With due respect to the author of this article and to the Indian movie industry, these excellent 11 movies you listed, which won well deserved acclaim the world over, are not ‘Bollywood films’ (although Bollywood actors may have worked in some of them) but artistic movies made at substantial financial risk by dedicated filmmakers who want to show us slices of real life. Whereas Bollywood currently makes only glamorous dreams packaged as commercially successful movies, with the notable excellent exception of “Black” by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Aamir Khan’s “Taare Zameen Par.” Although made in the south, Baahubali is a “Bollywood film”.
