Juhi Chawla was born on 13th November, 1967 in Ambala, Haryana, India. After completing her schooling from Fort Convent School, Mumbai, and graduation from the reputed Sydenham College, Mumbai, she tried her hands in modeling and got instant success. Soon, she participated in a beauty pageant and emerged as the winner of the Miss India beauty contest in 1984.

Chawla forayed into movies with the 1986 movie ‘Sultanat’. The film did not do well at the ticket window but Juhi was noticed for her performance and gorgeous looks. Soon, she was signed for Aamir Khan’s debut film, ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ (1988). The film turned out to be one of the biggest hits of Indian cinema and established the careers of both Aamir and Juhi. Their pairing in the film became talk of the town and every producer wanted to cast them in their films. The massive success of ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ earned Juhi the Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of the Year. In years to come, she appeared in a number of hit and super hit films like ‘Swarg’ (1990), ‘Bol Radha Bol’ (1992), ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’ (1992), ‘Aaina’ (1993), ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’ (1993), ‘Darr’ (1993), ‘Deewana Mastana’ (1997), ‘Yes Boss’ (1997) and ‘Ishq’ (1997), to name just a few and established herself as one of the most popular actresses in the industry. She took a break from films after her marriage in 1998, but soon returned to acting and appeared in films such as ‘Jhankaar Beats’ (2003), ‘My Brother Nikhil’ (2005), ‘Bas Ek Pal’ (2006), ‘I Am’ (2011) and ‘Gulaab Gang’ (2014).

Besides Hindi film, Juhi has also acted in Punjabi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, and Bengali language films. In addition to acting, she is also a television host, a humanitarian, and the co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders with Shah Rukh Khan.

TRIVIA: Along with Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla was among the top three Bollywood actresses during the late 80s and early 90s.

  2. Interesting…she finished graduation by age 16 and participated in Miss Universe at that age, which is against the pageant’s rule–contestants must be at least 18 years of age. I am sure her DOB is not correct. She has to be born before much before the DOB you have mentioned here.

  3. Can you select a Miss India or World from Black community or dark competition girl. The world goes like Beauty pageant means light skins. India is native to more than billion brown skin people. We have represent at least once in few years select a dark complexion human and be humane.
