Salman Khan has starred in over 50 films in his career spanning across three decades. While some of his movies failed to strike a chord with the audience, others met with overwhelming response of the public and went on to do extraordinary business at the box office. But hardly any of his film had earned him as much of love and appreciation as Kabir Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ did. Starring superstar Salman Khan in the title role, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ is the biggest blockbuster of Khan’s career. It is also one of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters of all times.
Also featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Harshali Malhotra in principal roles, the film entered cinemas on 17th July, 2015, one day before Eid. Salman Khan films generally open well and enjoy good run at the box office if released during Eid. Producers knew it well so they timed its release around the auspicious festival and made most of it. The strategy worked in their favor and the film succeeded in touching the emotional chord of the audience and make huge money at the box office.
Released across 4,900 screens worldwide, the movie started off extremely well at the box-office. It minted Rs. 27.25 crore on its opening day. Rs. 36.6 crore and Rs. 38.75 crore were added on second and third day respectively. As was expected, the film joined the Rs. 100 club in just three days, becoming the eighth Salman Khan film to have found a place in the coveted Rs. 100 crores club and the first one to make it to the 300 crore club. After successfully completing 50 days run at the box office, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ was declared an all time blockbuster. It made Rs. 320.34 crores at the domestic box office and grossed more than Rs 626 crore from the international market.
